This post has been awhile coming due to the fact I didn't want to write it. I haven't written in awhile mostly due to laziness and partly due to my biggest reader is no longer reading this.  On September 4, 2012 we lost our Pawpaw. Suddenly and quietly, exactly as he would have wanted it. We miss you Bill.

I couldn't continue blogging without paying tribute to one of the finest men I have ever known.
Bill, Lennon and Dylan at Canaan's graduation May 2012.

Hold our sweet Zachary tight Bill, we will see you soon!

Saturday, Saturday ever loving Saturday.

Our weekend began on Friday courtesy of Shell's 9/80 work weeks. Every other weekend gives us a three day weekend.  So this weekend we decided on more home improvement. We have been taking it in baby steps since this is "new" to us. Yesterday we picked out paint and Kevin finished up his arcade game.
The kids are loving this!!!!!!!
You can play anything on this arcade. Hours of PacMan... I know what I will be doing on Mother's Day Out days!

We also decided to lighten up the dining room. The original color in here was burgundy. It was pretty dark. I really want to wainscot this but bead board isn't cheap and we aren't carpenters. So we opted for a temporary fix and painted it Valspar Green Tea leaves.

I don't know how I feel about it just yet. Ignore the junk on the table!   I'll have to live with it for a few days before I decide if I like it. The color isn't true in the picture, it's much more a sage color.

Yesterday I made Pepperoni Rolls. I got asked for the recipe so I shall oblige!  I got this from Pinterest. Y'all I'm slightly obsessed with Pinterest. This is the link. Enjoy!  They were really as amazing as they looked!
And a cross section shot...where all the real action is.

Y'all don't be jealous of my fine china :)

I hope you guys have a great weekend!

Playing house

Sometimes I have to pinch myself so I know that this is really happening.

When I was a little girl I daydreamed non-stop about how I'd have a large family (I played with at least three baby dolls at all times) and a wonderful husband and I'd do mom stuff. I'm pretty sure I thought at that time "Mom stuff" was all about getting to sit around and read all the time or pretty much doing what you wanted whenever. Boy did I have that all wrong...  Anyways, I just knew I wanted an awesome husband/dad and a ton of kids.

Fast forward a few (ahem...) years and here I sit.  It's finally nap time and I get to type away here while loud boy "YEAH!" noises echo from the Call of Duty game upstairs and little baby snores come across on the monitor.  I am so blessed. I don't even know where to begin.  It took me a long time to end up here. However, here I am.  I pictured the journey to be a bit easier and "mom stuff" to actually be more fun than it can be but I think I had the feeling at the end of the day nailed down.

I love my life.
I found these books at my friend Jo's house. I cannot recommend them enough. They are Busy Books.

Lennon and the busy book. This is the first thing he usually grabs in the morning.

This and that...

So this post will be everywhere. If you know me it will be a lot like talking to me in person. Ha!  I decided to not take the easy way out and post yet another "Wordless Wednesday" yesterday. I decided to at least give some words. Scattered thoughts as they may be. But words at least.

So we are smack in the midst of preparing to move our oldest and only girl into a dorm this fall. I had no idea how mind blowing this would be. You always seem to forget all the extra stuff you need when you move. So now we are in the middle of deciding which mattress pad is better and what other things we need in our dorm. It's a crazy time. It's even crazier when the girl wants Vera Bradley sheets and Pottery Barn Teen duvets. This isn't even counting the outfit we have found for the sorority mix and mingle open house. Thus it begins.....

We've also been home improving. We replaced a crappy fan in our bedroom and put a new one in the mudroom.  I LOVE that fan. Who knew I needed one?

Mudroom bliss
Kevin had help with the bedroom fan.

I've been spending the summer trying to slow down and remember that this all goes so fast. It seems that just yesterday Canaan was a wee little and now she's moving out five weeks from today. Dylan will be a junior and starts band practice next week and sweet Rhys is in the middle of junior high drama. (I have proof of this in my constantly busy home phone. rings off the hook and it's never for us. Just Rhys.) sweet 4lb miracle Lennon, will be three soon. Crazy.
So I try to sneak this in as often as possible.

On a different, yet very important note, I have started a new "study". I use the term very loosely because it's not a study but more of an Internet movement. If you will notice in my sidebar there is a button with a link to "She Reads Truth". I came across this on instagram. This is a group of ladies who are following with each other in reading various plans from the "You Version" bible app. This month is is "Living Surrendered".  I LOVE this. It's perfect for me in this busy season of life. It's bite sized, much needed nuggets of truth. I'm striving to live a better life and this was just the perfect addition to my morning quiet time. Or in my case my whenever-I-can-fit-it-in-time. I encourage you to click the link and really check this thing out. It's powerful and we're doing it together which makes it even more powerful!

Summer Vacation! Part One.

We decided to take a quick trip this summer and do something we have never done before (we needed to take a Disney break). We chose a cruise.  Kevin and I had been before and thought the older kids would love it. We would leave on June 11th for five days to Progreso and Cozumel Mexico. It couldn't get here fast enough it seemed.

Vacation would start on Friday the 8th. This was perfect as I was finishing up the week as a 1st Grade team leader at our VBS.

Lennon, Dylan and Rhys at VBS.

Saturday we spent time with Kevin's Dad, Judi, Erika, Jake, Brianne and her gang. It was so good to see everyone. It had been awhile since we'd seen either of his sisters and their kids so it's always fun to catch up!

Sunday we peeled out in the icky rain. Well really we just went to the French Quarter and spent the afternoon hiding out from the rain enjoying the Audubon Aquarium of The America's and watching LSU's sad attempt at the CWS.

Lennon loves Walk-On's.

The next day we boarded the Carnival Elation.  Here are some pictures of us waiting to board.  We were being silly as usual!

Balthazar the world traveler.

This post has been long enough so I will start on the ship next time!
